On January 9th a group made a visit to two of the biggest 'Presépios'. These are Madeira's traditional Christmas Nativity scenes, but with a somewhat different take on them. There is much more to be seen than Mary and Joseph along with baby Jesus and the Wise Men.
The first stop was at the Presépio do Garachico. Set underneath the Church this is the culmination of three months work. It has to be seen to be described.
Lunch was next at A Poita in Madalena followed by a visit to the Presépio at the Bombeiros da Calheta.
Again lots of imagination went into the design of this, including live fish in the inspection pit.
Our day was concluded with afternoon tea at Anna and Bills.
Many thanks to all who made this such an enjoyable day.
